About Us: Sorell Consulting Ltd.

SORELL Consulting Ltd. (SCL) is a consulting firm, incorporated in May 2004, specialising in a range of civil engineering services for both the private and public sector communities.

SORELL provides professional engineering design services for clients wanting to develop their ideas. We help our clients assess, develop, and implement their ideas in a safe efficient manner.

SCL provides fully independent, unbiased assessments. Our personnel have experience in reviewing, assessing, developing, and implementing many types of projects. We work with large and small organizations, both commercial and governmental. We use state of the art equipment and software to achieve our goals. Our designs and procedures meet all applicable local regulations.

Directors

The company shareholders/ directors Clive Sorhaindo and Alistair Grell are both engineers with over 15 years of combined commercial project experience in the design, supervision and construction of civil engineering

Clive Sorhaindo, MA (Cantab), MSc Environmental Engineering (Imperial College), DIC, MDAPE

Clive is an environmental engineer with over 9 years experience both in Dominica and the UK. Before returning to ACE Engineering Ltd. in July 2001, he spent over two and a half years as part of a team of process engineers at Mott MacDonald Group specialising in the field of pollution control and environmental protection. He has visited over 50 wastewater and sludge treatment facilities in Scotland and England having population equivalents ranging from a few hundred to several hundred thousand.

Clive has considerable experience on a wide range of process-related projects, in particular:

Flow and composition analysis;

Design and costing of wastewater and sludge treatment works;

Design and costing of septicity;

Project management of odour control and dispersion modelling studies; and

Wastewater treatment feasibility studies (in the Orkneys).

Previously, Clive worked for over three years with the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company Project Administration Unit (DOWASCO PAU) on all aspects of the Roseau Water & Sanitation Project.

At ACE Engineering Ltd., he was a director and the key engineer on many of the company's environmental, water and wastewater consultancy projects.

Alistair Grell, B.Sc., B.Eng. (Civil), M.S.C.E. (Summa Cum Laude), MDAPE

Alistair is a Civil Engineer with variable professional work experience. He started his training in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where he received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from St. Mary’s University he then went onto pursue a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Dalhousie University also in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Alistair returned to the Caribbean after graduation and commenced work as a civil engineer with the regional Contracting Firm of Edghill Associates Ltd.

The tenure with Edghill Associates Ltd was for five (5) years. It encompassed a rigorous training program where he excelled to migrate from training engineer in 1996 to assistant project manager in 2001.

Through commitment and drive Alistair was eager to propel himself to the next level. This was achieved through a program of further studies in Civil Engineering which he enlisted in 2001 at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. This two year program was completed in a year and a half and in December 2002 Alistair received the accolade of Master of Science in Civil Engineering with distinction.

It was not a surprise that with Alistair’s success and drive that many firms would have been excited about including him into their team. Within two months after graduation Alistair was hired by an Environmental Engineering firm in Tampa, Florida. Alistair always had a dream of owning his own business in his homeland of Dominica and after a year and a half of working in Florida the opportunity presented itself and Alistair grabbed at this chance.In May 2004, Sorell Consulting LTD was formed.

Today Sorell Consulting LTD boasts as a strong competitor in the engineering marketplace in Dominica. Alistair has worked throughout the Caribbean and USA in various positions, from training engineer to project manager, with project values ranging from US$20,000 to US$17M including 5 months as a Resident Engineer in the volcano-ravaged Caribbean island of Montserrat.
